What are you named as in the big bad "Twitter" world?
By Maddison Blows

Look around a restaurant,  clothes shop, football game or any type of social event and you’ll be hard-pressed to find people who doesn't have their heads down using their cell phones to text, Tweet, or update their Facebook statuses—all while spending time with their friends, family  girlfriend/boyfriend whoever. There has been a change in the way we communicate; rather than face-to-face interaction, we’re tending to prefer  technology communication, We’d rather tweet than meet; we’d rather text than talk on the phone. With the new way we are communicating there is so many bad things that could happen, as there is this wide range of social media sites such as Facebook, Instagram , Snapchat and my personal favourite Twitter to chat on 24 hours whenever they wish all around the world. Communication has advanced so much by just technology as shown in this YouTube video from the week five lecture PowerPoint named "The medium is the message" as seen in the video at this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2dHqdvXsys

When we communicate through social media, we tend to trust the people on the other end of the communication more then what we do face to face, so our messages tend to be more open. With people trusting people so easy it is a new way for people to be " named'  a certain thing. On social media everything is judged or seen by people and if u post certain stuff that well could be weird to some people or Kool to some people will name you as a certain thing positive or negative, but we all know now days being named on social media is most likely going to be negative as there is so much judgement. This is not the only way you can be named on social media as when creating your account you can name yourself whatever you ( if its appropriate on most sites), this allows you to hide behind the social media account while communicating through messages, photos or posts( or tweets in my case)  Social media is the new social word of communication. There is so many sites to talk on, My personal favourite is twitter as this is a great example of "naming people".

Twitter is such open social media site, it is so easy to communicate on twitter but also so easy to be named on twitter. Communication on twitter is done by tweets, "tweet are message of a certain amount of characters long for easy messaging and communication with people all around the world 24 hours of the day and night if u wanted to. Twitter is the type of social media site that is less "strict" on what you post, meaning inappropriate things, weird things, gross things anything inspirational things etc. By twitter being like this it gives people the chance to judge and comment on the tweet and name this person , meaning call them a negative or positive word or thing. This giving the person naming the tweeter empowerment making them keep doing it making it a on going trend. Sometimes I think twitter has to much availability to communicate so easily as it can cause problems. Twitter is in a way a bullying playground for when it comes to naming people as it is so easy to do all you have to do it comment on there tweet and someone else does the same making it trend( been seen by the world. Twitter though, Yes it can be bad it can also be good as someone might have posted a certain topic in their profile, or their profile name  ( marriage equality forever  ) and someone follows this page and another etc, this is how a trend begins which then would start raising awareness for the certain topic. Twitter is a very powerful social media site when you think about it, that's what I think anyways.
